Jenneh Rishe shines a light on the realities of endometriosis

Brian Mastroianni interviews chronic illness advocate Jenneh Rishe BSN, RN. She discusses the documentary ‘Below the Belt,’ which follows four women as they navigate living with endometriosis, why it’s important for her to share her story, and what it felt like to finally put a name to what was causing her chronic pain once she received a diagnosis.

Endometriosis affects roughly 200 million women worldwide, and despite its prevalence, is often de-prioritized, ignored, stigmatized by providers, policymakers, and health systems that all too commonly fail to acknowledge the seriousness of health issues that affect women and girls globally. What can be done to better raise awareness about endometriosis? And what can we do to create more supportive, affirming, healthier societies for those living with this chronic condition?
